My expertise covers a range of psychological difficulties, including:
Areas of Expertise
-
Anxieties
-
Depression
-
Self-Harming, Suicidal Ideations
-
PTSD
-
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
-
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Experienced in working with borderline clients, I use dialectical behaviour therapy and mindfulness techniques to help manage high emotional vulnerability plus to develop skills needed to regulate emotions.
Psychodynamic Therapy
My theoretical orientation is psychodynamic; using the relationship between myself and the client, looking at the dynamics between us and exploring whether they are informed by early attachments and associations. I pay attention to the client's discourse as it often provides clues of the underlined issues. I find metaphors and dreams particularly helpful in accessing psychological material that may be blocked by trauma or defence mechanisms.
I use DBT ( dialectical behavioural therapy) to help BPD/EUPD clients to manage impulsive behaviour, suicidal thoughts, mood swings and anger - to develop skills needed to regulate highly intensive emotions.
I use MBT ( mentalization based therapy) that is particularly effective to regulate personal relationships; through the process of mentalization interpreting the actions of yourself and others, considering different perspectives in social cotexts, whilst fostering curiosity, contemplation and belief in changeability.
